Graveyard Survey

All Saints' Church, Thurcaston

Between 2005 and 2009 a team from the Society, led by Brenda Hooper, undertook to update the graveyard survey made by the Women's Institute in 1981.   The WI survey included transcripts of the inscriptions, the mason's name where shown and sketches of the shape of the gravestone.   The team checked that each stone was still present and added notes on their condition. The updated survey includes photographs of each gravestone taken by Brenda.

A copy of the survey, including photographs, is available to view at the Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland in Wigston.

A text-only version is available here.

The graveyard was closed for burials in 1935, since when the civil cemetery in Cropston has been used.
